Heat Pump Services
In most homes, the heating system and air conditioner are separate. Most often, a furnace heats up the air while a separate air conditioning system adds comfort in the summertime. But more and more homeowners have traded out their older heating and cooling systems for a single HVAC unit, the heat pump. Heat pumps are very efficient, and should provide the same level of heating and cooling to which you are accustomed with a traditional heater or air conditioner.

How Does a Heat Pump System Work?
Heat pumps contain the same components as traditional air conditioners, but with a few additional components. In the warmer months, refrigerant is compressed at the outdoor unit and then condenses at the outside coil while heat disperses into the air. Then, refrigerant moves into your home, where it condenses and absorbs heat from the air. This process repeats until your home reaches the desired temperature.
A heat pump differs from a regular air conditioner, though, because refrigerant has the ability to move in reverse. A reversing valve activates when you switch your thermostat into heating mode, and a serious of check valves allows refrigerant to bypass some of the components that are used only for cooling. The unit absorbs heat from the outside air and brings it to the indoors, even in cooler weather.
We Provide Heat Pump Repair and Maintenance
Watch out for any signs that may indicate the neat for heat pump repair. This may include unusual sounds, slow heating and cooling times, or hot and cold spots in the home. If it interferes with your home comfort in any way, it’s probably a sign that repairs are fairly urgent if you want to avoid an unnecessary breakdown. Refrigerant leaks, faulty blower motors, and thermostat trouble are all problems that could worsen if they are not addressed quickly.
We also recommend calling a technician each year for heat pump maintenance. A heat pump system may actually last longer than a conventional AC unit, but only if you take care of it. Change the filter every one to three months, and call a technician once or twice a year, right before the heating season or the cooling season picks up. The professional will adjust, clean, and inspect components to reduce the chances that parts will fail and to keep the system as efficient as possible.
